Key talks on EFORT 2019 Congress
EFORT wants to provide worthy scientific guidance via the presentation of well-established medical techniques, but also to highlight new evidence in emerging fields. The EFORT scientific sessions are training programs with high scientific value. During the 3 days of conferences, attendees will have the opportunity to assist more than 150 presentations and to visit almost 150 exhibition stands, looking for the new trends on orthopedics field.
Since 2015, EFORT chooses a main topic for the Congress and the scientific program is focused on that theme. This year the topic “Registries & Impact on Practice” is the chosen one. It will focus on Joint Arthroplasty and on medical devices surveillance.
Wednesday, 5 June
- Invited nation symposium: Metal-on-metal hip arthroplasty outcomes: Remaining problems
- How and when registries make a difference?
Friday, 7 June
- Do surgeons trust registry data?
- New EU Medical Device Regulation (MDR) to be implemented. What are the consequences for patients, surgeons, orthopaedic department and the industry?
- NORE session – Benchmarking between patients, implants and Surgeons
When a surgeon performs an arthroplasty, the goal is not just to find the best solution for the patient, but also to make the “new joint” to work perfectly with a specific implant that fits on that patient.
There is a lot of research about the risk of joint arthroplasty failure compared to other implants and situations, and good guidance for medical devices by long-term registry investigations. Why don’t we use data from research to improve the practices in medical device surveillance and arthroplasty outcomes to improve patient care?
The highlights under this overarching theme are:
- Patient selection
- Implant selection
- Implant survival
- Prediction of outcome
- Value based healthcare
- Revision rate
- Patient safety
- Quality improvement
- Patient reported outcome
- Patient involvement
“The EFORT annual scientific congress and accompanying commercial exhibition is the largest cross border medical meeting taking place in Europe that is dedicated to orthopaedics and traumatology.” says the organization

Dr. Levi Fernandes will present the workshop “Automatic osteotomy planning system” for Knees on EFORT 2019. He will show how it is possible to simply and accurately plan this procedure, using an easy to use planning system. This workshop includes a live demonstration and all subscribers will get a 2-month free trial of PeekMed system.
The talk will be on on 5th June, 4.30 PM on PeekMed booth during EFORT 2019.
PeekMed is a powerful 3D pre-operative planning system for orthopedic surgery. With this system, surgeons can use several features and tools to better plan several procedures like osteotomy and arthroplasty.
We hope to see you on EFORT 2019 and invite you to visit our stand (no. 2027) to try all the PeekMed features.
